Cook

Primary function is to work in the kitchen preparing meals for up to 222 residents, and to aid kitchen staff in the production of meals when necessary.

Job Type: Kitchen

Employee Type: Part Time

Essential functions:

  1. Prepare and serve healthy, attractive meals
  2. Utilize inventory resourcefully, properly manage stock.
  3. Recognize and practice essential food safety.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  1. Serv Safe Preferred
  2. At least 3 years’ experience cooking in a large scale operation required
  3. Reliable transportation
  4. Must be willing to work flexible hours (start 5am) and holidays
  5. Ability to work independently
  6. Excellent customer service skills preferred.

Light lifting required, must be able to stand for long periods


Resident Aide

Status: On-Call / PRN Employee

Job Summary / Objective: Responsible for overall Resident care within the Shelter, ensuring that the physical and emotional needs of the Resident is met.

Essential Functions

  1. Greets all Residents and prospective Residents. Provides communication, information and supplies to residents as needed. Responsibilities include but are not limited to bed assignments, locker assignments etc.
  2. Maintains overall cleanliness and sanitation of the Shelters and other Resident areas.
  3. Conducts security checks in and around the Shelter and related Resident areas.
  4. Assigns and supervises Resident service work and encourages Residents to fully participate in agency services.
  5. Holds Shelter residents accountable for upholding Shelter rules and expectations. Communicates any issues or concerns to Shelter Manager.
  6. Takes Resident attendance, maintains bed count and ensures Shelter capacity.
  7. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
  8. Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to the organization’s mission: "Drop Inn Center is a community of residents, staff and volunteers working together to provide basic human services for men and women experiencing homelessness with a primary commitment to shelter."

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Experience working with Homeless or special needs population preferred.
  • One (1) year customer service experience.
  • Ability to function effectively in an emergency situation.
  • Proficiency knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook and some experience with computer database programs.
  • Must be willing/able to work flexible hours, including day, night, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to pass drug test.
  • Driver’s License

Transportation Driver

The Transportation Driver is primarily responsible for providing courteous and reliable transportation to staff and residents with safety as the main priority.

Job Type: Transportation/Transporting

Employee Type: Full Time

Essential functions:

  1. Provide safe transportation to residents to and from community programs and/or meetings.
  2. Transports agency documents, donations, supplies as requested.
  3. Provide transportation for facilities kitchen staff to pick up inventories.
  4. Daily transporting veterans to VA for meeting/training.
  5. Maintaining all agency vehicles.
  6. Keeping accurate mileage log.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  1. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  2. Past transportation/driving experience.
  3. Possession of a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  4. Must be flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends and some holidays.
  5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills needed.
