The Drop Inn Center and Hamilton County TB Control are long-standing partners in the fight against Tuberculosis. We have been fully cooperative with their efforts, including sharing our resident and volunteer data freely. They have taken the responsibility to contact both residents and volunteers, with our help. We are both encouraging and providing opportunities for people to get tested and trying to educate people about the disease of TB.
To make the testing process more efficient in the future, staff at the Drop Inn Center are scheduled to be trained to be able to administer and read TB Skin Tests.
Among the actions the Drop Inn Center has already done:
- Contacted all residents and urged them to get tested either at Hamilton County TB Control or the City of Cincinnati Homeless Medical Van
- Utilized our Client Database (HMIS) to target those most at risk and placed messages urging them to get tested in their client file
- All clients still staying at the shelter were individually contacted and given a deadline to get tested
The Drop Inn Center is on the front lines of the fight for a healthier community. We work tirelessly to feed, clothe and shelters those who fall though the cracks. Without our efforts, the community would be defenseless against the spread of a myriad of health problems, including TB.
